The Food Network did their big celebration of all things Julia last night. It wasn't bad-- one-time student Sara Moulton interviewed Julia, they went into pretty good depth as to WHY she deserves the props she does, and even Emeril the overexposed came off quite gracious and humble.
What I can't understand is why they interviewed that asshole Flay. He had NOTHING to do with Julia, made NO episodes with her, and basically said nothing of value-- "the highest compliment I got from her was that she knew who I was." Pathetic.

Re: Food Network tribute
08/31Flay only got on the show because Food Network is trying to boost his ratings.

Re: Food Network tribute
09/01I saw half of the show, and thought it was sweet. Got a little teary, in fact. I am hoping the Food Network (or some other channel) would start showing her old shows from the 60s. There's no reason for them to do so, though, because they probably couldn't make money. I'd love to see them, though...
Cheerful Julia, swinging mallets and manhandling pastry dough... do you think there will be a DVD?
